This monument depicts an hourglass with ashes on the top half of the glass and books failing to the bottom on the other half. I would place this monument in a Berlin public square where people can have the access to admire the art piece. The monument symbolizes cultural progression in Germany after the Nazi Germany era. There is a transition from book ashes to books themselves. The monument acknowledges the strides that have been made to reconcile Germany’s past and look toward the future. Not all the ash is gone there is more progress to be made, and more ideas to be expressed/re-expressed.
